Summary

A critical vulnerability has been identified in D-Link DIR-605L router firmware version 2.13B01 BETA. The vulnerability affects the formDeviceReboot function in the /goform/formDeviceReboot file. It allows an attacker to cause a buffer overflow by manipulating the 'next_page' argument. This is a remotely exploitable vulnerability that has been publicly disclosed.

Impact

This vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected device, potentially leading to complete system compromise. The attacker could gain unauthorized access to the router, intercept or modify network traffic, and use the compromised device as a springboard for further attacks on the network. Given the high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, this vulnerability could result in theft of sensitive information, unauthorized changes to device configuration, and disruption of network services.

Exploitation

One proof-of-concept exploit is available on github.com. There is no evidence of proof of exploitation at the moment.

Patch

As of the latest information provided, there is no mention of an available patch for this vulnerability. Users of the affected D-Link DIR-605L router with firmware version 2.13B01 BETA should monitor D-Link's official channels for any security updates or patches.

Mitigation

Until a patch is available, network administrators should consider the following mitigation strategies: 1. Limit remote access to the router's management interface. 2. Use strong, unique passwords for router access. 3. Implement network segmentation to isolate the vulnerable device. 4. Monitor for suspicious activities or unauthorized access attempts. 5. If possible, consider replacing the affected device with a non-vulnerable alternative. 6. Regularly check for and apply any firmware updates from D-Link as soon as they become available.

Vulnerability Summary for the Week of September 30, 2024
High Vulnerabilities Primary Vendor — Product Description Published CVSS Score Source & Patch Info n/a–n/a An issue was discovered in Atos Eviden iCare 2.7.1 through 2.7.11. The application exposes a web interface locally. In the worst-case scenario, if the application is remotely accessible, it allows an attacker to execute arbitrary commands with system privilege on the endpoint hosting the application, without any authentication. 2024-09-30 10 CVE-2024-42017 cve@mitre.org cve@mitre.org Cisco–Cisco Data Center Network Manager A vulnerability in the REST API and web UI of Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC) could allow an authenticated, low-privileged, remote attacker to perform a command injection attack against an affected device. This vulnerability is due to improper user authorization and insufficient validation of command arguments. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by submitting crafted commands to an affected REST API endpoint or through the web UI. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the CLI of a Cisco NDFC-managed device with network-admin privileges. Note: This vulnerability does not affect Cisco NDFC when it is configured for storage area network (SAN) controller deployment. 2024-10-02 9.9 CVE-2024-20432 ykramarz@cisco.com n/a–n/a The WebDAV service in Infinera TNMS (Transcend Network Management System) 19.10.3 allows a low-privileged remote attacker to conduct unauthorized file operations, because of execution with unnecessary privileges.
