Summary

A critical vulnerability has been discovered in D-Link DIR-619L B1 version 2.06. The vulnerability affects the formSetDDNS function in the /goform/formSetDDNS file. This issue allows for a buffer overflow attack through manipulation of the curTime argument. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely and has been publicly disclosed.

Impact

This vulnerability could have severe consequences. As a buffer overflow attack, it may allow attackers to execute arbitrary code, potentially leading to complete system compromise. The CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (High) indicates significant impact across confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Attackers could potentially gain unauthorized access, modify system data, or cause system crashes or service disruptions. Given that the exploit is public, there's an increased risk of widespread attacks.

Exploitation

There is no evidence that a public proof-of-concept exists. There is no evidence of proof of exploitation at the moment.

Patch

As of the provided information, there is no mention of an available patch. The security team should closely monitor D-Link's security advisories for any forthcoming patches or updates addressing this vulnerability.

Mitigation

While awaiting a patch, consider the following mitigation strategies: 1. Implement network segmentation to isolate affected devices. 2. Restrict remote access to the device's management interface. 3. Monitor for suspicious activities or unauthorized access attempts. 4. If possible, disable the vulnerable formSetDDNS functionality until a patch is available. 5. Consider updating to a newer router model if D-Link does not provide a timely patch. 6. Regularly check for and apply any firmware updates from D-Link. Given the high severity and public disclosure of the exploit, prioritize addressing this vulnerability in your patching and remediation efforts.
