Summary

A critical vulnerability has been discovered in D-Link DIR-619L B1 version 2.06. The issue affects the formSetMuti function in the /goform/formSetMuti file. The vulnerability allows for a buffer overflow attack through manipulation of the curTime argument. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely.

Impact

This buffer overflow vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected device. Given the critical nature and high impact scores for confidentiality, integrity, and availability (all rated as HIGH), successful exploitation could lead to complete compromise of the device. An attacker could potentially gain unauthorized access, modify or delete data, and disrupt the normal functioning of the router. The vulnerability has a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 and a CVSS v4.0 base score of 8.7, both indicating HIGH severity.

Exploitation

One proof-of-concept exploit is available on github.com. There is no evidence of proof of exploitation at the moment.

Patch

As of the current information, there is no mention of an available patch for this vulnerability.

Mitigation

Given the severity of the vulnerability and the lack of a mentioned patch, the following mitigation steps are recommended: 1. Disable remote management of the router if it's not absolutely necessary. 2. Implement strong access controls and limit the exposure of the device to untrusted networks. 3. Monitor for any suspicious activities or unauthorized access attempts. 4. Consider replacing the affected device with a more secure alternative if possible. 5. Regularly check for and apply any security updates or patches that D-Link may release in the future.
