Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 November 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tekodot Ltd collects, uses, discloses and otherwise processes personal information in connection with the Unfindable website at unfindable.me, the Unfindable mobile applications and related services (together, the "Service"). Capitalised terms that are not defined here have the meaning given to them in our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are
Unfindable is operated by Tekodot Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a private limited company registered in Northern Ireland, company number NI724147, with our registered office at Unit 1 Weavers Court, Linfield Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT12 5GH. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, and our director is the person responsible for it, whom you can contact at hello@unfindable.me or at the address above.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Account information: your email address.
- Search information: your full name, the town or city and country where you live, any profile links you choose to add, your answers to the questions we ask to confirm which results relate to you, and your confirmation that you are searching for yourself.
- Waitlist information: if you join our waitlist, your name, email address and any feedback you choose to give.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us.
Information we collect from public sources
When you run a search, we collect publicly available information that appears to relate to you, such as web pages, posts, profiles, images and public records, together with links to their sources, and we present it to you with summaries we generate as a report (your "Report", called your file in the app). That information may include special category data (for example, information about health, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or political opinions) and information about other individuals, which we handle as described in section 5.
Information we collect automatically
- Device and log information: your IP address, device and browser type, and the dates and times you sign in and use the Service.
- Usage information: records of actions you take in the Service, such as starting a search or making a purchase, linked to your account identifier and email address.
- Notification tokens: if you allow notifications, an identifier used to send notifications to your device.
- Ad measurement information: in our app, an identifier we create for your install and the country of your app store account, which we use to decide whether the ad measurement described in section 7 applies to you, and on Android, the referral details your device holds about the advertisement that led you to install the app.
- Cookies and similar technologies: as described in section 7.
Information we receive from third parties
- App stores and payment providers: information about your purchases, such as the product purchased, subscription status, renewal dates, refunds and transaction identifiers, but not your full payment card details.
- Advertising partners: information about the advertisement or campaign that brought you to our website or led you to install our app, such as the campaign details that Google Play or Meta's apps pass to our app on Android.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- provide, operate and maintain the Service, including running your searches, producing your Reports and running new searches while you subscribe;
- create and manage your account and process your purchases;
- communicate with you about your account, your searches and the Service, including by email and notification;
- send you marketing communications where you have agreed to receive them or the law otherwise allows;
- understand how the Service is used, and develop and improve it;
- measure the effectiveness of our advertising;
- keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce our Terms of Service; and
- comply with our legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not make solely automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Legal bases (UK)
If you are in the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the Service, running searches, producing Reports and processing purchases | Performance of a contract with you and, for special category data and data about criminal convictions or offences, the fact that the data has been manifestly made public and is processed at your request |
| Notifications to your device | Consent, which you can withdraw in your device settings |
| Service communications, analytics, security, fraud prevention and enforcing our Terms | Legitimate interests in operating, improving and protecting the Service and the people whose information it searches |
| Marketing emails | Consent or legitimate interests, as permitted by law |
| Non-essential cookies and advertising measurement | Consent |
| Producing a Report that includes information about people other than the requesting user | Legitimate interests (see section 5) |
| Record keeping and responding to lawful requests | Legal obligation |
5. Information about people other than our users
Because public information often refers to more than one person, a search may collect information about individuals who are not our users, such as people who share a user's name or are mentioned in content about them, and we process that information only as necessary to produce the requesting user's Report, on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing the Service. Results that a user says do not relate to them are excluded from the Report, and results that have not been opened with a Watch subscription are deleted 24 hours after the search. If you are not a user and believe we hold information about you, you can exercise the rights described in section 11 by contacting us at hello@unfindable.me.
6. How we disclose information
We do not sell personal information, and we disclose it only as follows:
- Service providers: companies that process information on our behalf, including providers of hosting and infrastructure, web search and data retrieval, artificial intelligence models, app store billing and subscription management, payment processing, email delivery, notification delivery and analytics, which receive the search terms needed to locate public information when a search runs, as do the public sources searched.
- Apple and Google: when you buy through the App Store or Google Play, and to deliver notifications to your device.
- Advertising partners: Meta, so that we can measure which of our advertisements work, which on our website happens only where advertising cookies are set and in our app happens only on Android outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, as described in section 7.
- Legal and safety: where we believe disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of any person, to investigate misuse of the Service or to enforce our Terms of Service.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business.
- With your consent: or at your direction.
7. Cookies, ad measurement and similar technologies
Our website uses the following cookies and similar technologies:
- Strictly necessary: cookies required for the website to function, including one that remembers your cookie choice (pb_consent, kept for six months) and others that protect against abuse.
- Analytics: PostHog, which we use to understand how the website is used, including recordings of how you use its pages.
- Advertising: the Meta pixel, which sets cookies such as _fbp and _fbc to measure which advertisements bring people to our website. Where these cookies are set and you sign up or start a checkout on our website, we also send that event to Meta from our servers, with your contact details (email address and name) hashed and the browser information Meta uses to match it.
If you visit from the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, or from a location we cannot determine, analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you accept them in our cookie banner. Elsewhere they are set when you first visit, and you can turn them off at any time with the Cookies link in the website footer, which also lets you change an earlier choice. Our website treats a browser's Global Privacy Control signal as a refusal of advertising cookies until you accept them yourself, but it does not respond to the older "Do Not Track" signal.
Our app does not use advertising identifiers or contain Meta's software development kit, but it does tell Meta which of our advertisements led to your install, in the ways described below. On an iPhone, the app tells Apple's attribution system when you install, sign up and first subscribe, and that system gives Meta only delayed, aggregated results that do not identify you or your device, while our servers send Meta nothing about your use of the app. On Android, the app reads the referral details that Google Play and Meta's apps hold about the advertisement behind your install, and our servers send them to Meta when you install, sign up and first subscribe. Each of those events carries an identifier we create for your install, your IP address and the user agent your phone sends to our servers, the purchase value and the versions of the app and of Android you use, but never your name, email address, searches or Report. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, the app does none of this, and if you are in Canada, you can turn it off on Android at any time under Account.
We and Meta are joint controllers for collecting and sending this information from our website and app, and Meta alone decides how it uses the information after receiving it. Our joint controller is Meta Platforms, Inc. if you are in the United Kingdom and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited if you are in the European Economic Area, and Meta describes its use in its Privacy Policy. Where advertising cookies are set, or where our app sends Meta these events, Meta may collect information about your activities over time and across different websites and apps. Turning off advertising cookies, or ad measurement in Canada, stops any further events going to Meta, but it does not delete the events that Meta has already received.
8. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, and in particular:
- search results that have not been opened with a Watch subscription are deleted 24 hours after the search;
- Reports and account information are kept until you delete your account;
- waitlist information is kept until you ask us to remove it or it is no longer needed to tell you about the Service;
- our log of the emails we send you, with each message's address, subject and text, is kept for 30 days;
- the identifier we create for your app install and any install referral details are kept until you delete your account, or for 30 days if you never sign in, except that in Canada the referral details are deleted when you turn ad measurement off; and
- IP addresses used to limit the number of searches are kept for two days.
When you delete your account, we delete your account information, searches and Reports and our log of the emails we have sent you, and we ask our subscription management provider to delete its record of you and our analytics provider to delete the usage analytics linked to your account. We keep a record of store transactions (transaction identifiers and internal references, with no name, email address or results). We may also keep other limited information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or misuse or enforce our Terms of Service, and deleting your account does not cancel a subscription purchased through the App Store or Google Play.
9. Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United Kingdom and our service providers process information in the United States and other countries, so where we transfer personal information outside the UK we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. You can ask us at hello@unfindable.me for more information about the safeguards we use.
11. Your rights and choices
You can delete your account, and with it every search and Report, at any time in the app under Account, opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, and turn off notifications in your device settings. Similarly, you can turn off advertising cookies with the Cookies link on our website and, in Canada, ad measurement under Account in the app on Android, and either change stops any further events going to Meta.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time, and if you are in the UK you have these rights under the UK GDPR. To exercise a right, contact us at hello@unfindable.me from the email address associated with your account, and we will respond within the period required by applicable law once we have verified your identity where that is necessary.
Your right to object. Where we process your personal information on the basis of our legitimate interests, you can object at any time on grounds relating to your situation, and where we process it for direct marketing, you can object at any time and we will stop.
12. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, so if you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, and when we do we will post the updated policy with a new "Last updated" date and, where the changes are material, notify you by email or in the Service.
14. Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact us at hello@unfindable.me, and we will acknowledge it within 30 days, respond without undue delay and tell you the outcome. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority where you live.
